Melba and I were driving back from Yakota this morning and along the route we began to suffer from a bit of insecurity. It is inexplicable why the mind does this, but knowing with 99% certainty that our driving route is sure, I am embarrassed to admit that it is a minuscule 1% of doubt that takes on enormous unfounded proportions.
Then instantly, as we are speeding down the highway our eyes fix on the large road sign that reads 横須賀 Yokosuka and the greatest sense of relief immediately fills our hearts and minds. I can best describe it like this.
- You are a tender child and for a short instant have become separated from your mother in a crowded room filled with adults towering over you. Then, as you desperately scan about, your fearful and desperate eyes lock with your sainted mother's across the room. She smiles back. You are found. You are no longer lost. Oh, joy, what relief. Soon you are warmed against her bosom and snuggled in her loving embrace. All is well. You'll soon be home.
